Destiny 2: How To Get The Outbreak Perfected Pulse Rifle | Exotic Quest Guide

May 8, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

A blast from Destiny’s past made a surprise return today with Patch 2.2.2 — here’s how to get this gorgeous Exotic Pulse Rifle for yourself.

The end game of Destiny 2 is all about those exotics, and a ‘new’ one just dropped with the 2.2.2 update. Found in a random mission, you’ll be able to grab a ‘Fallen Transponder’ that begins a lengthy exotic quest. Like all exotic quests, the transponder really doesn’t give you many clues. If you’re lost, confused, and just want to know how to get this awesome looking gun, then check out the guide below for all the details.

Outbreak Perfected is the upgraded version of Outbreak Prime — itself an extremely rare Exotic from Destiny 1. To get the original version, you’d have to interact with panels on the ‘Wrath of the Machine‘ raid in the Rise of Iron expansion. The Pulse Rifle has seen some upgrades since then, and the story mission you’ll need to complete involves old Fallen allies; yes, you’ll work alongside a Fallen good guy here. That’s almost worth the price of admission. Learn how to complete all the steps in the quick guide below.

How To Get The Outbreak Perfected Pulse Rifle | Exotic Quest Guide

Before you can begin this quest, you’ll need to download the 2.2.2 update for Destiny 2. You’ll also need to complete (up to) the mission ‘Enemy of My Enemy‘ on Titan. The quest unlocks a special mission with PL 690 enemies. Yes, seriously. It’s really, really hard.

To begin the Exotic Quest, begin the ‘Bad Neighbors‘ Heroic Adventure on Titan. Complete the mission until you encounter a room with a Shrieker enemy. Kill the enemy and interact with the crystals in the room to unlock a unique door. Inside, you’ll be able to pick up the Fallen Transponder.

With the Fallen Transponder, you’ll need to locate six Nodes. Finding all six nodes will unlock a PL 690 quest called Zero Hour. The mission is located in The Farm — enter the basement of the main structure after opening all six nodes on the Fallen Transponder.

All the nodes are located in the EDZ or on Nessus.

Node Locations

The node locations were compiled by the incredible fans created by u/Nyxara.

Node #1: Found in ‘The Drain’ EDZ Lost Sector

Node #2: Found in ‘The Whispered Falls’ EDZ Lost Sector

Node #3: Found in ‘The Atrium’ EDZ Lost Sector — Split into two parts.

Node #4: Found in ‘The Widow’s Walk’ EDZ Lost Sector

Node #5: Found in ‘The Carrion Pit’ Nessus Lost Sector

Node #6: Found in ‘The Rift’ Nessus Lost Sector

Find them all and you’ll get a strange message. Whatever it means when decoded, you’ll find an incredibly tough mission in the basement of the main structure at the Farm. Go underground, and fight alongside Mithrax to unlock the unique Outbreak Perfected Pulse Rifle.
