Ahead of the release of the first and only expansion for Elden Ring later this month, it looks like legions of players aren’t quite prepared.
To play the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, you must reach Mohgwyn’s Palace. On PC, 62 percent of players have yet to do so–and they only have two weeks to get there if they want to jump into the new content on day one.
Bandai Namco even took to X to encourage people to make some progress before June 21.
First announced in February 2023, Shadow of the Erdtree will bring with it a completely new story, world, weapons, enemies, and additional RPG features.
“Guided by Empyrean Miquella, players are beckoned to the Land of Shadow, a place obscured by the Erdtree where the goddess Marika first set foot,” reads a description of the DLC on Elden Ring’s official website. “In these strange new lands, players discover the dark secrets of the world as they meet others who follow in Miquella’s footsteps with ulterior motives.”
From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki has gone on record to say that while no plans for a sequel or further DLC exist, more Elden Ring content is possible in the future.
Selling over 23 million copies since its initial release, Elden Ring snagged the Game of the Year award at the 2023 D.I.C.E. Awards, the 2023 Famitsu Dengeki Game Awards, The Game Awards 2022, and the 2022 Golden Joystick Awards, among others.
The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC expansion for Elden Ring will be released on June 21, 2024.
