Yesterday, Nintendo unveiled new gameplay footage of the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Some eagled-eyes fans noticed new unannounced Pokemon hiding behind UI elements, and speculation quickly appeared about their origin. However, when Nintendo later published the Japanese version of this trailer, these new Pokemon were nowhere to be found.
The latest gameplay footage of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet sheds more light on the story of the game. This open-world RPG takes place in the Paldea region, loosely based on Spain and Portugal. As a student in an Academy in this Paldea region, you will take part in an independent study program called the Treasure Hunt. But the most important thing for fans is not this study program, but rather all the new Pokemon you can meet on the way.
So far, 18 Pokemon are confirmed to make their debut in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly are the three starter Pokemon, respectively of grass, fire, and water types.
Two new legendary Pokemon roam around the lands of Paldea: Koraidon and Miraidon. Both of these legendary Pokemon can help you travel across the Paldea region faster. They have three different travel forms: Drive Mode, turning them into a kind of motorcycle when traveling on land, Aquatic Mode to swim and cross water plans, and Glide More to soar through the skies. A third Pokemon can help you travel faster: Cyclizar. Just like Skiddo and Gogoat from Pokemon Pokémon X and Y, you can ride Cyclizar, which then turns into a sort of motorcycle.
On top of these Pokemon, you could encounter Armarouge, Ceruledge, Cetitan, Cyclizar, Grafaiai, Smoliv, Klawf, Pawmi, or a Paldean Wooper. Some Pokemon already took over the hearts of players, such as Fidough, Lechonk, or Diglett’s cousin, Wiglett. The latest Pokemon announced for Scarlet and Violet is Farigiraf, the evolution of Pokemon Gold and Silver’s Girafarig. More Pokemon could be announced before the official release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, scheduled for November 18, 2022.
In the gameplay footage revealed yesterday, some fans spotted new unannounced Pokemon.
Three more Pokemon appeared as symbols in the game’s mini-map. One of them looks like a white mouse, another like a green parrot, and the last one looks as if Toad was made out of salt.
If these new Pokemon sparked interest in the Pokemon community, they mysteriously disappeared from the Japanese version of the gameplay footage Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will release for Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022. Nintendo previously announced its intent to launch a special edition Nintendo Switch OLED themed around these games if you don’t already own the console or would like a new one.
