Lords of the Fallen is seemingly linear until after you defeat the first major boss. Once the Hushed Saint is defeated, you’ll gain an optional path you can follow that leads to advanced challenges you’ll only be able to easily overcome much, much later in the game. If you’re eager to explore new regions of the map or just want to grind vigor on tough enemies, you’ll want to purchase the Pilgrim’s Perch key ASAP. Here’s where to find it and what to do with it after you get it.

How To Get Pilgrim’s Perch Key
The Pilgrim’s Perch Key is a special required key needed to progress to one of the five beacons. It can be used in two different areas of Pilgrim’s Perch — one of the early areas of the game you’ll need to cross to reach the first beacon in the Forsaken Fen.
- Pilgrim’s Perch Key: This key is located in Skyrest Bridge. Find it for sale from Stomund, Captain of the Fidelis. He sells the key for 9,500 Vigor. Stomund is the NPC to the right of the Skyrest Bridge vestige.
Purchasing the Pilgrim’s Perch Key will also unlock a map for Belled Rise. The map gives you a general vague idea of how to progress up to the top of Pilgrim’s Perch. Pilgrim’s Perch Key has multiple locations it can be used — and if you buy it early, you’ll encounter extremely tough enemies very early in the game.
Where To Use Pilgrim’s Perch Key
Door Location #1: In Pilgrim’s Perch, find a locked door with an embedded bell directly opposite the Bellroom Vestige checkpoint. It’s where the NPC is standing.
- This leads down a much, much more difficult path. Following this path leads to the Path of Devotion Memorial and circles back around to Skyrest Bridge. You’ll also find the road leading to the Manse of the Hallowed Brothers. This area is required to progress to another of the beacons.
Reaching The Manse of the Hallowed Brothers: To access the Manse of the Hallowed Brothers area, follow the Pilgrim’s Perch Key door until you encounter the Sacred Resonance of Tenacity boss. Defeat the boss and progress up the Pilgrim’s Perch path until you find an elevator. The lift will take you up and to the base of the mansion. This area is far more difficult than the lower path leading to the burning town of Calranth.
Door Location #2: Around the same area, unlock the lift shortcut next to the Bellroom Vestige. Ride the lift down and drop down into the prison area where the Blacksmith is first found. There’s a door in this prison area that’s locked and requires the Pilgrim’s Perch Key.
- This small area is packed with enemies and has an Umbral Parasite guarding them. Lure the enemies out of the ledge area to fight them in the prison where they won’t get buffed. There’s a useful pendant called the Warrior’s Claw that boosts Physical Attack and Physical Defense.
Door Location #3: At the very start of Pilgrim’s Perch, following the path from the Sanctuary, enter the first cave of Pilgrim’s Perch. The locked door is on the right. Inside, you’ll find a treasure chest that contains the Sacred Resonance Armor Set. This is a heavy armor set with extremely high physical damage mitigation.
All of these areas are step up in terms of difficulty, but they’ll also give you new challenges to explore and pathways to unlock if you’re sick of following the path through the Forsaken Fen, to Fitzroy’s Gorge and finally Calranth Slums. There are new weapons to find, armor sets to unlock, spells to memorize and tons of vigor to collect. Grab this key ASAP — or wait until you really need to unlock these areas.
