Cyberpunk is grim, but that doesn’t mean it has to be so creepy. Huntdown is the opposite of all those scary games, sending your colorful bounty hunter into a beautiful 2D world to blast absolutely everything in sight. Huntdown is another one of those criminally unknown games that fans of Metal Slug or any violent sidescrollers will love.
Huntdown throws you (and another player) into the crime-ridden alleys of an atmospheric city with some of the nicest pixel graphics we’ve seen in awhile. It’s all about taking progressively tougher bounties in your quest to get rich. That’s something we can all sympathize with.
Because we can all use more violent bloodshed in our lives. Ruiner is a demented, thuddingly violent take on cyberpunk — this isn’t just a hardcore top-down brawler, it’s practically a horror show. The dark steam-filled environments are packed with ever-evolving enemies. In Ruiner, you play as a masked mystery man goaded into battle by a hacker, taking on corporate interests and uncovering a nightmarish AI.
One of the most stylish and ghoulish games on our list. If you’re looking for a dark adventure that really pushes the limits, you can’t go wrong with Ruiner’s disgustingly grimy vision of the future. It’s also ridiculously fun, and a tough challenge for anyone looking to bath in absolute buckets of blood.
