Rage 2: All Guns Ranked | The Best (And Worst) Guns [Video]

May 22, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Get the definitive list of best (and worst) guns in Rage 2 — here’s all the weapons, ranked from great to not-so great.

Rage 2 takes a page from Doom (2016) — because it’s all about the guns, baby. You’ve got a full arsenal of weapons at your disposal at any time, and you can gleefully blast bad guys all day. You’ll have to unlock all these guns, one at a time, but you can grab them in any order you want — just check out our gun locations guide to get them all.

We’re not showing you how to get guns here. Today, we’re all about ranking the guns from best to worst. The best guns aren’t just useful, they’re also unique — and uniquely fun to use. The worst guns aren’t only bad, but boring. Thankfully, Rage 2 doesn’t include many standard-issue boiler plate clunkers. Sure, there’s the standby Assault Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun, but only two of these three weapons are lame as heck.

The Shotgun is one of the best in the FPS business. It’s powerful, with great thudding sound effects accompanying every blast, and comes with a unique secondary fire that shoots an accurate slug that sends enemies flying like skeets. It’s a beautiful combination, and there are even better guns to grab.

Here’s a quick spoiler — one of the best weapons is a machine gun that shoots gravity darts. Pegging enemies with these darts does almost no damage, but pressing the secondary button directs the darts, launching them wherever you aim. You can send enemies launching into other enemies, into explosives, or into walls, causing them to explode on impact. It’s a hilarious showcase of the game’s physics, and it’s insanely satisfying. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to use the weapon against the big bosses. It’s practically useless.

There are way more cool guns to checkout — there’s a rifle that disintegrates enemies, a heavy weapon that becomes more powerful the hotter it gets, and more. Check out the video above to see what we thought were the best (and worst) guns in Rage 2.
