Sea of Solitude

  • Developer: Jo-Mei Games
  • Publisher: Electronic Arts
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: 2019

Sea of Solitude is an upcoming adventure title being developed by indie studio Jo-Mei Games. We saw this game a bit during E3 2018 where it appears that players will take control of a young woman who is exploring a city that has become submerged under water. Apparently, this location and the creature that dwells within it will reveal just why this young woman has turned into a monster. This game was slated to launch early in 2019 but so far there hasn’t been any signs of it launching at the moment so perhaps we’ll get some more details during this year’s E3 expo.

Kingdom Hearts III

  • Developer: Square Enix
  • Publisher: Square Enix
  • Platforms: PS4, XBO
  • Release: January 29, 2019

Players will once again go on another grand adventure with Sora and his friends as he battles the evil heartless in Kingdom Hearts III. We’ve been waiting for the arrival of this third main installment to the Kingdom Hearts franchise for years and now we’ll soon be able to play it in early 2019.

As always, Sora will meet with a plethora of Disney themed worlds and characters all while battling enemies. However, it seems that the developers are looking to expand the open world capabilities for the game as players should be able to freely explore the various Disney worlds. Likewise, there are bound to be several new Disney locations that have yet to make it in a Kingdom Hearts video game installment such as Frozen.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

  • Developer: Nintendo
  • Publisher: Nintendo
  • Platforms: NS
  • Release: 2019

There is no shortage of video game installments to The Legend of Zelda franchise and as a surprise reveal during Nintendo’s February Direct upload in 2019 we got the reveal of a new remake from the series. For those who owned an original Game Boy, you may have enjoyed The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. Now you can prepare to enjoy that game all over again in a massive overhaul on the Nintendo Switch. This series is a well-known action-adventure title where players take on the role of Link and essentially saves the day from evil. With so many installments released, it’s not too surprising to see Nintendo look back at some of the classics that haven’t had its time in the spotlight in a number of years. As mentioned, this game is a perfect action-adventure that plays like the traditional old school Zelda titles. The game is done in a top-down perspective and given a more cartoonish style visuals. Throughout the game, players will be solving puzzles along with clearing dungeons and fighting bosses, much like how the series is known for.

Jedi: Fallen Order

  • Developer: Respawn Entertainment
  • Publisher: Electronic Arts
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: 2019

For quite some time now we’ve known that Respawn Entertainment, the developers responsible for Titanfall, was working on a Star Wars video game project. During E3 2018 we got a few small details regarding the upcoming game.

So far we know that this will be a single-player narrative adventure called Jedi: Fallen Order. Players will be taking on the role of a padawan that managed to escape after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. This will be a dark story as you are one of the last of remaining Jedi that are being hunted down.

The Elder Scrolls VI

  • Developer: Bethesda
  • Publisher: Bethesda
  • Platforms: TBA
  • Release: TBA

After years of dealing with releases of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Bethesda made the announcement at E3 2018 that the next iteration of the franchise is in development. The problem here is that we have practically no information at all about the game. Bethesda didn’t offer any details but instead stated that the next installment to The Elder Scrolls franchise will be a next-generation game and will release after their newest upcoming IP, Starfield. It’s likely that this game won’t release this year but crazier things have happened. Likewise, it’s highly unlikely the title will launch on current generation platforms, outside of PC, as Bethesda has spoken of both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI is a next-generation title.

Minecraft: Dungeons

  • Developer: Mojang
  • Publisher: Mojang
  • Platforms: PC
  • Release: 2019

A brand new game will be set in the world of Minecraft. Developed under Mojang, players can expect Minecraft: Dungeons to release at some point this year. Not too many details were given out so far but we know that this will be a dungeon crawling experience. Players will be able to join together and venture through new locations along with environments. It appears that Mojang is also bringing out new weapons and items for players to make use of when they start their adventure. Currently, there is no specific release date attached to the project yet, but we can expect to enjoy the game within this year for the PC. It’s uncertain if Mojang will have the game available on any other platforms, but we will, of course, keep track of the latest when more details are released to the public.

Just like Minecraft’s base game, we expect plenty of adventures to be had with Minecraft: Dungeons. Already, you can find several fan made maps based around dungeon crawling for groups of players to join together and venture through which means that’s already a market for Mojang to deliver a standalone dungeon crawling adventure for players. Adding in additional items, mobs and environments will also give a nice breath of fresh air into the title as well.

  • Developer: Dontnod Entertainment
  • Publisher: Bandai Namco Entertainment
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO

Things take a turn for the worse when he awakens with no memories of the previous day while covered in blood.

The development team is setting players up for a mature adventure title and Dontnod Entertainment definitely has experience in delivering fans with an adventure. We haven’t seen too much in terms of the game so far, but if it’s anything like Life is Strange and Vampyr, players will be exploring the surroundings along with being presented with several choices in which will have bigger consequences within the game.  Regardless, this is one title that is turning some heads since its announcement and we’re certainly going to keep tabs on it the development team slowly releases information on just what players are up against within the in-game world.

BioWare is known for delivering in-depth RPG video game titles and their next IP set to launch in 2019 may just be another title worth picking up.  Set in the distant future where humanity has explored and colonized other planets, players will be taking the role of a Freelancer in the upcoming title Anthem. These Freelancers are specialized task force members that are capable of exploring new open worlds that are filled with hostilities.

Most of these worlds are uncharted or filled with dangers resulting in the need for various Freelancers. With the use of advanced suits known as Javelins, Freelancers will not only be able to traverse the world quickly but also be able to fight off any monstrous creatures that show up along the way. Likewise, this adventure will be available as a cooperative gameplay experience with up to four players.

The development team responsible for Firewatch, Campo Santo, is bringing out a brand new video game in 2019. This is yet another narrative journey adventure but set in the 1920s where players take on the role of a woman named Rashida.

This last adventure has taken her to Egypt where she must explore ancient tombs but it will come at a cost. In order to reclaim her title in the professional world, Rashida will have to work with Zora, a partner that she had sworn to never work with again.

  • Developer: Capcom
  • Publisher: Capcom
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, NS, 3DS
  • Release: 2019

The Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney video game franchise has been around for a number of years now and it’s grown to be quite popular. Overall, the game follows Phoenix Wright, a rookie defense attorney, who goes through various crimes to locate clues to use within the court trial. Overall, you can consider the game more of a visual novel with puzzles throughout.

Despite the first game first releasing into Japanese markets in 2001, gamers will soon once again get the game in a new compilation release. Capcom is putting out Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms sometime in 2019.

While we’re unsure if there will be any changes, this adventure title will give players a chance to relive the game after over ten years have passed since the first title found its way into the western market back in 2005 for the Nintendo DS. However, we’ll be keeping out eye out on if Capcom will be putting anything new or unique into the game compilation, but we may be waiting awhile for news as the game does not have a specific release date attached.
