#28 Swap To The Combat Pro Controller Setting On Consoles — It’s Just Plain Better
If you’re a console player, you’ll find some general drawbacks on the normal controller configuration. Crouching isn’t so easy, there’s no quick-swap with your weapons, and switch between weapons / construction can be a little tricky. Don’t worry, there is a better way!
NOTE: Learning an entirely new control scheme is a huge pain, but if you really want to compete on consoles, this is 100% the way to go. Stick with it and practice!
Open the Main Menu and go to Settings to change your Controller Settings. The “Combat Pro” option is the best for anyone experienced with other shooters. It lets you crouch with [R3], swap weapons, and it’s basically designed for quickly navigating all your combat options without putting you at a steep disadvantage. If you’re wondering how your opponents can duck while aimed and construct junk in the blink of an eye, it’s probably because they’re using the Combat Pro setting.
NOTE: The Combat Pro controller configuration comes in two different modes — Combat and Builder. Make sure to press [R3] to toggle between the two and see how you can manipulate blueprints while in builder mode.
#27 Use Edit Options In The Lobby To Create Custom Quick Builds
Building is what sets Fortnite apart from any other Battle Royale mode, and knowing your building options is incredibly important if you want to achieve victory — you probably already knew that, but did you know that you can change your quick build options in the lobby? You can actually customize the wall, ramp, floor and pyramid options — for example, you can remove two of the sides on the pyramid to create a quick walled ramp.
Now you can use the pyramid option for quick ramps exclusively. The ramp+wall quick combo you can just plop down is going to save your life, and now you can customize the ramp options for your own private needs — you can create a ramp that goes down or a staircase for building interiors.
