30 Fortnite: Battle Royale Secrets & Settings The GAME DOESN’T TELL YOU

May 26, 2018 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Stay competitive in Fortnite: Battle Royale with 30 secrets and settings you really need to know. From controller configurations, to graphics settings, to in-game secrets, here’s all the vital information the game doesn’t explain..

#4 Even More In Season 4: Here’s How Jetpacks Work

The Jetpack won’t be around for long, so get it while it lasts. The Jetpack is a special item (not a cosmetic) that’s only found in treasure chests in Battle Royale. It isn’t really a weapon, or a trap, or a power-up potion — it’s a mobility item. The Legendary Jetpack is a rare drop that takes up an inventory slot, and you can only carry one jetpack at any given time.

NOTE: The jetpack is available in the main Battle Royale mode, but can also be found in limited event modes like “Close Encounters”, where shotguns and jetpacks take center stage. If you missed the jetpack event, we think it’ll be back before too long.

The jetpack is easy to use. All you have to do is jump. You’ll get a lot more air-time and a much higher jump. You can still shoot, but you can’t enter targeting mode while hovering with the jetpack. The jetpack has a limited meter that gets used up when you jump, but it will begin to recharge mid-air once you stop using it.

#3 You Can Turn On Cross Platform Play On iOS (But Don’t!)

Fortnite: Battle Royale is widely available — you can get it for free on PC, consoles, and even iOS devices. Even crazier, there’s crossplay between PC, consoles, and mobile players. That’s a pretty wide range, and if you’re one of those lucky mobile players trying to enjoy a quick game between work (or between classes) then you’ll probably want to avoid the Cross Play option.

Yes, technically you can enable Cross Platform Play. It’s great fun if your friends all have different versions of the game — but if you’re playing on your phone, you’re going to have a very hard time competing against console or PC players. Here’s how to enable Cross Platform Play anyway.

  • Sign up for an Epic Account. (An account is required for PC.)
    • Sign in here.
  •  Select the silhouette next to “Downloads” –there are two options.
    • PlayStation Network
    • Xbox Live
  • Sign in with your PSN / XBL account and register.
  • Add friends with Epic Accounts of their own.
  • From the game lobby, you can now join your friends’ party, no matter where they are playing.
    • PSN and XBL can not crossplay with each other. Only PC, to mobile, to one of the two consoles.

It’s cool that this is even possible, but don’t blame me when you get splattered in the first few minutes. Touch controls actually aren’t that bad in Fortnite — it just takes a lot of effort to get good.
