CD Projekt RED has shared an unexpected update on the state of The Witcher Remake.
They shared this statement to GameSpot:
As we have previously announced, the development on The Witcher Remake has been temporarily integrated with The Witcher 4 due to production process dependencies.
As The Witcher Remake will be built on the foundation laid by The Witcher 4, we need to have the necessary assets, tools, and pipelines ready for efficient development.
GameSpot reached out to the developer after noticing that they mentioned the remake having ‘technology dependencies’ with The Witcher 4. Fool’s Theory was also supposed to work on the remake until this pivot.
If you don’t remember, CD Projekt RED announced this remake all the way back in 2022. We’re not sure why they were evasive about the state of this project, but at least we now know where they are.
CD Projekt RED has three consecutive annual releases lined up between The Witcher 3 Remake, Songs of the Past, and The Witcher 4, so it’s not like fans will be missing out.
