March 27, 2018 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Get weapons, upgrades, and customization options a little faster with this faster cash-farming method in Far Cry 5.

Weapons cost cash in Far Cry 5, and there’s never enough money when you’re just starting to explore Hope County, Montana. Guns are expensive, and most side-activities actually don’t give you any cash at all. You’ll have to check the mission rewards to see how much you’re about to earn, and usually it’s only about 1,000 bucks. That’s not nothing, but it’s only enough to get you some lower-end customization for your weapons.

If you’re looking to enhance your character with better guns, cooler cosmetics, and other awesome little upgrades, you’ll want to get money fast — and no, we’re not talking about Silver Bars, the microtransaction currency you can use to unlock stuff early. No, there are different ways to get rich quick, and there are certain locations you can farm for faster money. Of course, you can always just play the game and eventually (slowly) get the money you need. This is just for those of us that can’t wait to get a silencer, or a different hat, or a new scope. You know — obsessives.

Here’s How To Get Money Faster | Quick Cash Farming Guide

The best way to earn cash early (and even late) in the game is through hunting. The crafting system has been simplified, so now you’ll just collect skins from animals you hunt. Just remember; don’t run them over, blow them up, or burn them.

When farming animals, you’ll want to bring plenty of bait and a strong weapon so you can kill them with as little ammo as possible. After skinning an animal, return to a local gun store and sell your skins for a quick infusion of cash. It’s pretty much required if you want to unlock everything in the game.

  • Animal Skin Farming:
    • Travel to the Moccassin River in Jacob’s Region. The area is south of the F.A.N.G. Center, in a flooded basin near the bridge.
      • I recommend bring an LMG. You’ll find one early if you clear out the F.A.N.G. Center. Collect one of the big guns from an armored cultist.
    • The area you’re looking for is a caribou hunting spot. There’s even a gun store in this area you can use to sell. This area is special because it’s a large flat land — very, very easy to spot animals here.
    • Shoot caribou to collect skins and bait. Look for more valuable caribou too — the white ones are alpha caribou.
      • Unlock the Harvest Master perk to get double skins when harvesting animals.
    • Use the bait here. Toss bait on the ground, and a predator will usually appear right in front of you after a few seconds. Take it out and collect the skin.
      • You’ll get either Wolf Leaders or Black Bears. That’s why we want the LMG!
    • Continue to hunt caribou, collecting skins and bait, then using the bait to summon predators with even more valuable skins. Wolf Leaders will usually spawn when you drop bait.
    • Rinse and repeat for as long as you like.

It’s really, really easy, and you can keep doing it essentially forever. Wolf Leader skins sell for $225, while Alpha Caribou sell for $350. One quick hunting trip that only lasts 2-3 minutes can earn you $2,000 bucks. With the Harvest Master perk, that’ll double to $4,000. That’s a pretty great conversion rate!
