Resident Evil Requiem Craze Is Already Astonishing With Capcom Just Revealing This Milestone

June 24, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Are you ready?

Capcom has been hard at work with this upcoming Resident Evil game. Insiders who have been vocal about the project suggest that Resident Evil Requiem will not only be Capcom’s most expensive game but also its most ambitious. We got its first big showcase reveal just earlier this month during the Summer Game Fest. Fans might not get their hands on this game anytime soon, but that’s not stopping them from allowing this installment to hit an impressive milestone already.

Resident Evil Requiem fans are ready to dig into this game. With Resident Evil Village seeing the end of Ethan Winters’ storyline, a fresh new face is featured as the protagonist. Whether fans get some familiar faces in the mix or not, they are ready to see what Capcom has cooked up. We know that because Capcom just unveiled that the game has already reached a million wishlists. That’s quite a massive win for the team and just shows that the Resident Evil fandom is alive and well.

Now, if you’ve been missing out on the gaming news cycle and somehow missed this announcement, we’ll give you a refresher. Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth mainline installment for the series, and it’s taking us back to the infamous Raccoon City. Players are stepping into the role of Grace Ashcroft, and you die-hard Resident Evil fans might find the name familiar.

Grace is the daughter of Resident Evil’s Alyssa Ashcroft, famous from the Outbreak subseries. So far, we know that Grace is an FBI technical analyst who has been asked to investigate a series of unusual murders. Ultimately, this takes her to Raccoon City years after the bomb dropped, and what’s left is mainly a crater and ruins of a once flourishing civilization.

We’re supposed to get a spotlight showcase with this installment, among other Capcom games, this week. Hopefully, we’ll learn a little more about the game, and if some fan’s speculation is right, we might also find Leon making an appearance. After all, it’s hard to return to Raccoon City without someone like Leon, who witnessed the destruction and outbreak firsthand.

As for when you’ll be able to play this game, we have a ways to go. Currently, the new Resident Evil game won’t make its way to the marketplace until February 27, 2026. When it launches, the game will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
