Atlus has posted a new trailer for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance to its official YouTube channel, detailing the game’s improvements over the original and providing players with a complete overview of what they can expect when the title releases next month.
Boasting new demons and a new dungeon, those who didn’t snag Shin Megami Tensei V on the Nintendo Switch in 2021 should gear up for one of the most unique RPGs to be released in the last decade.
Check out the comprehensive 15-minute trailer below:
As previously reported, Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance will feature two distinct story paths: Canon of Creation and Canon of Vengeance. The former is the same story as the original, while the latter is unique to the new title and will diverge drastically mid-way through the campaign.
“The battle system, demon fusion, and field exploration have also evolved in depth with the addition of new elements. We are excited to deliver a full-fledged RPG that can be enjoyed by those who have already played SMTV, as well as those who are playing this series for the first time,” a new statement reads.
Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance will include a New Game+ mode, allowing players to either retain the game’s difficulty a second time, make battles easier, or make battles dramatically more difficult with a mode dubbed ‘Godborn.’
“When a grisly murder scene in modern-day Tokyo blocks the protagonist’s walk home, an unplanned detour leaves him buried and unconscious,” the game’s description reads. “He finds himself in a wasteland ravaged by apocalypse now called Da’at. Before bloodthirsty demons can claim his life, a savior emerges, and they unite to become a mighty being, neither human nor demon: a Nahobino.”
Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance will be released on June 14 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
