Sea of Thieves First Season Starts This Month

January 21, 2021 by Dennis Patrick

Get ready to start the first official season.

Sea of Thieves is an action-adventure title that is centered around pirates. Players will take to the open seas with their cooperative crew as they search for hidden treasure and taking out other pirate crews that show up along the way. This is an MMO game where players will consistently run into each other throughout their various adventures. Combat will take place both in ships and on land as well, giving players the full pirate experience. Players will also be able to attend safe-zones where they can trade, hire on the new crew or even dabble into the black market goods.

The game has been around for several years at this point. With new expansion packs, players were given more content to enjoy which kept players coming back. However, the folks over at Rare wanted to make things a bit different for this year as they unveiled prior that Sea of Thieves would be seeing a lot more content coming out for the game throughout 2021.

Rather than giving players a series of updates each month to keep this title fresh, it looks like the studio has transitioned into seasonal updates. This is pretty standard for games as a service. Each month you’ll get more content from rewards, quests, and items that will hopefully make players a bit more time to complete. That should also allow the studio to come up with more big change-ups to the game.

This first season will be free for players to dive into when it kicks off on January 28, 2021. For newcomers, this means you’ll have a great starting point to dive into this game while veteran players should see the community liven up with more players again. Currently, you can enjoy Sea of Thieves right now on the PC, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series X/S platforms.
