Main Quest 12: Into the Borderlands
This missions picks up right after Field of the Fallen. Run back south now to Meridian and then head to the Palace of the Sun in the northern part of the city. Upon arriving, you are not permitted entrance. Talk to Marad to remedy this. After speaking with him, follow him into the temple, another cutscene will play once you arrive at your destination.
After speaking with the king, you need to head to Pitchcliff in the far north. Make sure to stock up on supplies before heading out! Upon arriving at Pitchcliff, head straight up through the city to meet Marad’s Operative, when reaching where the operative should be, a cutscene will play. Use your scanner to find tracks that will lead you to the operative.
When you reach a body, examine it. After a brief cutscene, you’ll need to head even further north to Dervahl’s camp. Be wary of any machines on your path as you ascend further into the mountains. Once you get to the camp a cutscene will play. After the cutscene, you’re going to need to sneak into the camp and kill as many machines and guards as possible before the whole camp catches on.
Do your usual, pick enemies off one by one and avoid detection. Shooting the machines that are chained down will release them and cause them to attack the guards in the camp. Do this for ultra mayhem and keep you as safe as possible.
Upon arriving at a cabin, a cutscene will play and then you’ll be fighting a baddie with a big gun and two more machines. Just keep moving and take out the machines as quickly as possible. If you need a breather, they won’t leave the small arena you’re fighting them in, so just run back down the hill if you’re overwhelmed and need to heal.
After the battle, loot the guy with the big gun to trigger a cutscene and then head down the cabin you tried to go in earlier, disabling the sonic barrier on your way down. Another cutscene will play. After the cutscene, use your scanner to survey the workshop and find any clues that may help you. After searching, talk to Erend and you’ll complete the quest.
