Picking random things up from the ground is a major gameplay element in Hades 2. Do you think hitting spectres, shades, phantasmal horrors beyond your comprehension, and fish is the goal of the game? Nah man, it’s all about picking up flowers and brewing some funky tea in the world’s most opulent pot.
Moly is one of the many resources you can gather in Hades 2. It’s one of the most common resources in the game, and because of that, it’s also used in all kinds of Incantations. Sure, Plasma might be substantially rarer, but that gooey nonsense doesn’t even have a tangible use yet. Moly on the other hand is like a photosynthesising nugget of gold.
In this guide, we are going to walk you through where to find it and what it is used for.
Note: Do be aware that Hades 2 is still in Early Access, so anything and everything is subject to change.

Where To Find Moly In Hades 2
Moly is an extremely common resource in Hades 2 and is likely to be the first resource you find when you start a fresh save. This is because Moly is found in the first region of the game, Erebus.
Like with nearly every resource in Hades 2, you can only find Moly in this specific region. You cannot gather it from anywhere else, you can’t buy it from Charon, and the Wretched Broker will not trade it. If you need Moly, you have to manually go out there and pluck it from the ground.
Unlike most resources, you do not need a specific Gathering Tool to harvest Moly. If you spot this golden flower in the wild, simply interact with it to retrieve it. You only get 1 Moly per flower (unlike the three Silver you would get from an ore deposit), but you are likely to find two or three flowers per run.
The downside to Moly is that you can’t increase your chances of finding it, and with Moly in particular, you might get a run that simply doesn’t spawn it. This is because Erebus is unique. It has two weather types, and Moly will not spawn if it rains. Instead, you will encounter Deathcap.
To ensure you don’t miss out on any Moly spawns, be sure to use the Reagent Sensing Incantation to lead you to every resource in an area.
What Is Moly Used For In Hades 2
Moly is one of the most highly sought-after materials in Hades 2. We are hard-pressed to think of a system in the game that doesn’t require this resource. Everything from Incantations to Arcana uses Moly, and this continues until the late game. We aren’t joking when we say Moly is used in some of the last Incantations you will unlock in the current build of Hades 2. Heck, it is combined with some of the rarest materials in the game to pull off those Incantations.
Despite its common status, you ALWAYS want to have some Moly on hand because it feels like everything needs it.
What To Do With Your Excess Moly
Once reach the later parts of Hades 2, you will start to run out of uses for Moly. Unfortunately, unlike most plants in Hades 2, you cannot sell it at the Wretched Broker for Bones. So eventually you will have a near-bottomless supply of the stuff once the game ends.
