Hades 2 has been in Early Access for a little while now, and we are happy to say that the game is shaping up wonderfully. The polish this game has, even in its earliest of iterations, is staggering to behold. There is a whole lot of game here, and we are loving every second of it.
Of course, the game is not finished, and Super Giant Games have come through with their first-ever Early Access patch – aptly named, Early Access Patch 1. This addresses a few niggling issues we had, and frankly, we are over the moon with these gameplay changes (among other things). Let’s take a gander.
Oh, due to the nature of the Patch Notes, there are SPOILERS. You have been warned.
Note: Do be aware that Hades 2 is still in Early Access, so anything and everything is subject to change.

General Gameplay
- Sprinting is now faster and turning is more responsive. Abilities that dabble in these mechanics have been re-scaled.
- You can now Dash out of many attack animations more reliably
- You can now gather from any resource point once you have unlocked the corresponding Tool. Selecting a Tool in the Training Grounds will make those nodes appear more often.
- Altar Of Ashes
- The Swift Runner Arcana now also makes your Dash immediate. Your invulnerability window is slightly smaller due to speed changes.
Level Design & Environments
- Dashing over chasms is now easier in Oceanus
- Driftwood is more common in the Rift Of Thessaly
Menus & UI
- Using a Well Of Charon will now display your current gold

Miscellaneous
- Early encounters with Eris are less likely to occur. She will also drop something of ‘value’ (we don’t know what this is, but we are intrigued)
- If this has already occurred, look for a one-time bonus in the Crossroads while Eric is present.
- Book of Shadow entries are now easier to reveal
- You can gift Echo without having to wait around as long after conversing
- Adjusted Animal Familiar upgrades due to the changes to Tools
- In the Hades flashback, a hint will now appear to inform you that you have control after a while
- Improved mouse selection in various cases
- Improved support for some additional controllers
- Abilities that boost Sprint Speed display more accurate numbers
- Updates and fixes to translations in some languages

There are a lot of small tweaks here, but the biggest for us, in terms of raw gameplay and quality of life is the change to Tools. There is a lot of resource grinding in Hades 2 – more so than in Hades 1 (it feels that way, at least), so making it easier to harvest those resources is much appreciated.
That’s all we have on Hades 2 for now. Be sure to check out our other guides and content for more tips, tricks, and updates.
