Want to turn into a true assassin in Elden Ring? Stealth is a new mechanic to the series, but just about everyone in PVP or PVE will spot you pretty easily in most situations. If you want to walk right past difficult enemies in dungeons or perform devastating surprise attacks on invaders, you’ll need to turn invisible — and there are two ways you can accomplish your disappearing act. We’ll explain how to find both in the full guide below.
The three methods for turning invisible are magic-based, skill-based, and talisman-based. One is a sorcery, and one is an Ash of War skill you can equip to your weapon — you don’t have to be an INT build to turn invisible. Even a regular warrior can accomplish this feat of trickery, which can be incredibly useful for getting past PVE monsters you just don’t want to fight. Sick of dealing with crowds of knights in the Haligtree? Now you can walk right by them. Just don’t expect invisibility to work against bosses. They’ll always know your exact position.

Where To Find Unseen Form Sorcery
The Unseen Form sorcery turns your Tarnished invisible and makes their footsteps silent. You become very difficult to spot in PVP, and PVE enemies will ignore you unless you directly attack them, or if you walk very, very close to them — you have to be practically touching an enemy for them to react. Unseen Form requires 16 INT to cast.
- Unseen Form Location: Mirage Rise, Altus Plateau – Unseen Form is located at the top of an invisible tower in Altus Plateau. Find the tower in the woods to the west of the Altus Plateau Minor Erdtree. When you arrive, there is no tower. When you approach, you’ll get a map showing the locations of three runes — activate all three to reveal the tower.
Unseen Form is located at the top of the tower. The first rune is near the invisible tower — to the right of the imp statue marking the invisible tower’s location. The second rune is far south (and slightly west) in the ravine near the rock wall. The last is near the wrecked bridge to the west (and slightly south) — look for a stone on the cliffs and attack it to reveal the last rune location. Touch all three to make the tower appear.
Now you can claim one of the best spells in the game. Tired of PVE areas? Want to rush to the bosses? Need to explore areas filled with enemies you don’t want to re-fight? This spell is incredibly useful, and there’s an alternate way to acquire it for melee builds.
Where To Find Assassin’s Gambit Ash of War
Assassin’s Gambit works exactly like Unseen Form, but this is an Ash of War. This one is much easier to acquire and is found in the Volcano Manor of Mt. Gelmir. The downside is that you need to wound yourself to turn invisible — not that bad, you really can’t do any fighting with this ash of war activated anyway.
- Assassin’s Gambit Location: Volcano Manor, Mt. Gelmir – Sold by Knight Bernahl for 6,500 runes. To unlock his shop, you need to complete at least one letter contract hunt for the Lady Tanish quest. Once you complete one job, talk to Bernahl in the study to buy his goods. Even if he’s gone, you can interact with the sword / chair to purchase skills.
The Assassin’s Gambit Ash of War can be applied to any small / medium Straight Swords and Curved Swords. This costs 5 FP, but if you’re really aiming to be frugal, there’s one final stealth item that reliably keeps you invisible.
Where To Find Concealing Veil Talisman
The least-effective of the three invisibility items. This talisman, when equipped, turns you invisible when crouched. It works in both PVP and PVE, and enemies will be unable to see you at a distance. It is not nearly as effective as the skill or spell version, but it does work and doesn’t cost any FP.
- Concealing Veil Location: Sage’s Cave, Altus Plateau – Defeat the Black Knife Assassin inside the Sage’s Cave, a small cave on the lower cliff walls west of Wyndham Ruins to collect this talisman. The cave entrance can be reached from the Abandoned Coffin site of grace. Fast-travel there and travel north to reach it.
And those are all the ways you can turn invisible and avoid enemies. Sometimes you just don’t need to earn all those runes.
