Elden Ring: How To Stagger Every Enemy In One Hit | Giant-Crusher Guide

May 20, 2022 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Flatten even the toughest bosses.

Stagger is one of the most important methods for interrupting enemies and dealing massive damage in Elden Ring. The right amount of stamina damage will completely (and briefly) incapacitate an enemy, and this works on almost every boss. Even the biggest bosses, including enormous dragons, can be staggered instantly with a single attack. You just need the right attack. Here, we’re going to talk about dealing the maximum amount of stamina / poise / posture damage in Elden Ring so you can completely crush even the most seemingly unstoppable opponents. Stop their attacks dead and stun them faster for insane damage.

Staggering is so powerful it is essentially the best way to beat the hardest boss of the game, Malenia. To deal max damage, you’ll need a few buffs and even if you can wield the Giant-Crusher Hammer, the weapon we’ll be using here, you’ll also need a specific Talisman and Tear. With the right combination of items, you can dish out insane damage that knocks almost every opponent on their knees with a single heavy swing. Charge up this bad boy and nothing can stand against you.

How To Make Giant-Crusher An Unstoppable Staggering Weapon

The Giant-Crusher at +25 deals an incredible amount of stamina / poise damage. Stamina damage is a specific type of damage that will interrupt enemies and eventually lead to a stagger state. When an enemy is staggered, you can perform a critical hit that deals huge damage — and the Giant-Crusher can stagger almost any enemy with a single charged attack. Here’s what you’ll need if you want to test this overwhelmingly powerful weapon.

  • Giant-Crusher Build:
    • Giant Crusher Hammer
    • Requires 60 STR
    • Cragblade Ash of War
    • Stonebarb Cracked Tear (Wondrous Physick)

The Giant-Crusher is one of the best and most underutilized weapons in the game. It is slow, but if you can land that staggering hit, you’ve effectively stomped any and all bosses. If it works against a boss, it works against everything in the Lands Between. Here’s where to find all the items you need.

Giant-Crusher Location
The hearse with the Giant-Crusher chest.
Stonebarb Cracked Tear Location
Hammer Talisman Location
Cragblade Location
  • Giant-Crusher Location: Altus Plateau – Found in a black cart chest directly south of the Outer Wall Phantom Tree site of grace.
  • Cragblade Location: Caelid – Near the Impassable Greatbridge site of grace. Check the nearby sword marker battle monument and defeat the scarab.
  • Stonebarb Cracked Tear Location: Caelid – Defeat the Putrid Avatar at the eastern Caelid Minor Erdtree.

Apply the Cragblade Skill to the Giant-Crusher to gain +10% Poise Damage for 30 seconds, then drink your Wondrous Physick with Stonebarb Cracked Tear applied for +30% Posture Damage and +30% Stamina Damage. To deal even more stamina damage, you can try using this Talisman.

  • Hammer Talisman: Stormhill – Defeat Recusant Henricus to the north of Warmaster’s Shack. He’s a red invader that will appear in the field.

With all that gear, you’ll blast through shielded enemies and drop bosses with just one charged heavy attack. The Giant-Crusher requires patience and timing but landing an instastagger is so satisfying. Give it a try if you’re looking for new STR builds to play around with.
