The Borderlands series has been well established as one of the premier titles in the co-op looter-shooter genre so it only makes sense that the franchise’s wacky spinoff Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands would follow the original series’ lead as a co-op looter-shooter of its own.
While certainly playable solo, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands feels best experienced with a group of friends as you blast your way through hordes of the undead to overthrow the Dragon Lord. Crossplay has been a widely requested feature for most online games over the last few years and, since the issues that have recently come to light regarding PlayStation’s “crossplay tax,” fans are always curious and hopeful that their favorite upcoming online games will support it.
Luckily, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands does support crossplay, but players will need to know a thing or two about it before starting up.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Crossplay
Although it would be nice to start a fresh save file with up to four friends to play through the entirety of the campaign together, that’s not possible. Online play isn’t available to the player until they complete the tutorial of the game. Essentially, players need to get past the first encounter where they’re given their first ward to start online play. It’s only roughly 20 minutes into the game, but it’s still worth pointing out.
When starting the game for the very first time, players will be asked if they want to support crossplay with their game. If they choose “Yes,” they’ll need to choose their GearBox Shift name but if they choose “No,” the feature can be turned on later. Once getting through the first combat encounter, players can turn crossplay on and join friends through the “Social” pause menu.
Tab over to “Network and Social” and make sure that crossplay is enabled. From there, head over to the “Roster” tab and you’ll see all of your GearBox Shift friends. Joining their game is as simple as selecting their name and following the on-screen prompts
If your friends aren’t showing up, you can search for them by selecting the “Find Shift Friends” option at the top left. Simply enter their Shift username and they’ll pop up: make sure to add them as friends so you can join them easier in the future.
Crossplay for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands allows players to play together across all systems that it’s available on: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
Those looking to meet new people and play with internet strangers can do so by changing their “Group Privacy” setting to allow anyone to join their game.
