#20 Test Sensitivity Settings & Find What Works Best For You
If you want to be a winning Fortnite: Battle Royale player, you’re going to need to test out the sensitivity settings. PC players are pretty used to fussing around with mouse sensitivity settings, but it can feel pretty foreign to console players using a controller. It’s important to understand that sensitivity is 100% subjective, no two players will want (or need!) the same sensitivity. The important part is just experimenting with the settings and seeing what works best for you.
- High Sensitivity [7-10]: If you like getting up-close-and-personal with a shotgun.
- Low Sensitivity [1-4]: If you like using SMGs or Assault Rifles for picking off targets at medium-to-long range.
There are three levels of sensitivity: low, medium, and high. For most players, you’ll stick with medium — it’s balanced, but doesn’t have any of the pros (or cons) of the other settings. Low Sensitivity is all about throwing yourself into the thumbstick, using bigger movements to do basic actions, but you’ll have fine control over subtle actions — you’ll be able to more carefully aim your shots and adjust without instantly whiffing right past your target. The opposite is true of High Sensitivity setting. You’ll be able to more easily wheel around in close-combat, but dialing-in a perfect shot will require very, very gentle movements.
#19 ADS (Aim Down Sights) And Scope Sensitivity Can Be Changed Independently
Another simple tip that many of my console-playing comrades will completely overlook. You can actually change the Scope / ADS sensitivity settings independently of your general sensitivity settings — meaning that, say, you’re a complete crazy-man, you could have high sensitivity general settings for quick close-encounters, while still retaining those fine controls when you’re crouched and aiming.
I don’t recommend it going too nuts with the sensitivity settings, but it might help to lower the sensitivity for scopes (slightly) to give yourself more control. Remember that Sniper Rifles don’t have Aim Assist, and that they have fully-modeled projectiles, so they have drop-off and lead time you need to consider. It just might help to bump down the sensitivity to get just a fraction more precision.
