#24 Know The Difference Between Hitscan & Projectile Weapons
You can’t win without shooting your opponents, and it helps to understand the difference between Hitscan weapons and Travel Time / Lead Drop weapons in Fortnite: Battle Royale. All weapons APPEAR to be “Travel Time / Lead Drop” weapons — all weapons have tracers you can see, but the tracers aren’t an accurate representation of what’s actually going on when you shoot your gun. Let me explain.
When you place your reticule on a target, when you fire, most guns will hit those targets instantly (if you’re good at aiming!) and don’t have any bullet drop or travel time to hit the target. Sniper Rifles, on the other hand, totally do have travel time and bullet drop. Essentially, you don’t need to lead your targets if they’re sprinting across the map — you only need to lead your targets if you’re using a Sniper Rifle. The bullet takes a fraction of a second to hit where you’re aiming. That doesn’t happen with Assault Rifles, Pistols, Shotguns, or SMGs. Rocket Launchers? Yeah, that’s projectile.
#23 The ‘Double Pump’ Meta Is Real — Using Double Shotguns
The “Double Pump” method might not be as all-encompassing powerful as it used to be, but this is still an incredibly strong tactic for noobs and experts alike. Using this method is really simple, and it helps to switch to the Combat Pro controller setting on console for quick weapon swapping.
The tip is really, really simple — just grab two shotguns and swap between them. Pump-Action shotguns have a very low firing speed, but there’s a way to get around that limitation.
Just switch to another shotgun! If you’re carrying two in your inventory, you can improve your pump-action firing speed just by swapping between two different pump-actions, alternating after every shot. You’ll be able to fire faster and kill opponents quicker. Obviously, this is only effective in close-combat. You’ll need to be pretty close, so it’s best to lure opponents into buildings or onto ramps where limited mobility can be their downfall.
