You won’t get far in Hades 2 if you aren’t prepared to do a bit of grinding. Not in the traditional sense, no, no, no. We mean getting out there and hitting things with sticks, picking up weeds, and occasionally dancing with ghosts. It’s a strange life, but it’s one we thoroughly enjoy living.
Limestone is one of the many (many…) resources in Hades 2. Unlike its Silver cousin, it’s not quite as important for progression, but it does unlock all kinds of interesting upgrades that you will not want to miss out on. In this guide we are going to walk you through how to get Limestone, what you can use it on, and how to get more.
Note: Do be aware that Hades 2 is still in Early Access, so anything and everything is subject to change.

Where To Find Limestone In Hades 2
Limestone is not a resource you can find just lying around ready to be stuffed into your fanny pack. It is a node-resource which means you can only find it from, well, nodes. These are special interactables that spawn every few rooms and require a specific tool to harvest. Limestone requires the Crescent Pickaxe, which is one of the first tools you unlock.
Limestone exclusively spawns in Oceanus, which is the second region of Hades 2 (assuming you are going through the Underworld). This makes it one of the easier resources to gather by virtue of it being in a comparatively easy zone. New players may have trouble getting it in high quantities due to being dead. As you improve as a player, Limestone becomes almost effortless to acquire.
You can spot Limestone by looking for stone pillars. These are grey and stand out due to the high amounts of gold in Oceanus. It’s very hard to miss. You can harvest three times from each node with each slap of the pick granting you a single piece of Limestone.
Quick Note: You DO NOT need to have the pickaxe equipped to harvest Limestone. You simply need to have the tool unlocked.
What Is Limestone Used For
Unlike Silver, Limestone is not needed for anything world-changingly important, however, it does unlock some key features we are happy to have. Firstly, you can unlock the Gather Of Ancient Bones Incantation which makes it far easier to gather Bones. This directly increases your income per run, making it easier to buy things at the Wretch Broker.
Secondly, you can also unlock the Kindred Keepsakes Incantation which allows you to change your Keepsake after every boss. This is wonderful for changing up your loadout before a difficult and makes one-use Keepsakes far more powerful as you aren’t burdened with them that whole run.
How To Get More Limestone In Hades 2
We mentioned earlier that you don’t need the pickaxe equipped to harvest Limestone, and this is true. However, we highly recommend you keep it equipped when going Limestone farming as it drastically increases your odds of finding the resource in the wild. Without it equipped, you might not get any Limestone during a run. With it, you are likely to get around three nodes per run. We would much rather have 9 Limestone than 0.
Do remember to harvest from each node three times. We are very impatient when we play, which gets us in all kinds of trouble. It also means you have missed out on a full harvest more times than we care to admit. Don’t be like us – hit that rock three times and maximise your gains. On the note, once you hit the late game be sure to unlock The Greater Favour Of Gaia. This lets you upgrade your tools, which in turn makes your pickaxe more effective. With the upgrade, you can harvest from each node four times.
Finally, if you are struggling to find Limestone then consider unlocking the Reagent Sensing Incantation. Once unlocked, a sliver of light will guide you to any resources in a room. This makes it almost impossible to miss a node.
