Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon – Decision Missions Explained

September 5, 2023 by Matt Villei

Time to make a choice!

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is broken up into missions, each of which is selected in the Sortie part of the game’s Garage. For the majority of the game, the process of picking a level and playing it is simple. Some missions appear alongside others and allow you to tackle all of them in any order before a new batch of missions becomes available. There are specific missions, however, that will negate other missions in your list of playable missions. These are Decision Missions and it is important to understand which missions these are and how they will affect your game before you decide to lock into one level and completely eliminate another. This guide will explain to players what Decision Missions are in Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon.

Decision Missions Explained In Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon

Decision Mission will first appear in Chapter 3 of Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon and appear sporadically throughout the rest of the game. These are missions that will force you to choose between a selection of missions which will make any of the missions that you don’t choose inaccessible for your current playthrough. You can tell which missions are Decision Missions by the branching symbol shown under the mission description and on the mission tab when you are in the Mission Select screen, as shown in the image below.

This means that in order to play the other Decision Mission from a set, you will need to go through a New Game or New Game+ to play it. This also means that you won’t be able to get the rewards from the mission you don’t select and that missed mission won’t be available in the “Replay Mission” section until you do play the mission on New Game+.

On a first playthrough, most of the Decision Missions don’t have much impact on the story. The only Decision Mission that matters in terms of the ending that you will get is found in chapter 5 with Mission 37: Intercept the Corporate Forces putting you on the path to the Fires of Raven ending while Mission 38: Eliminate “Cinder” Carla will eventually get you the Liberator of Rubicon ending. In New Game+, choices in missions as well as Decision Mission will unlock new, exclusive missions only found in this repeat playthrough. New Game++ will have missions that will eventually lead to the true Alea Iacta Est ending.
