The Cycle
- Developer: Yager Development
- Publisher: Yager Development
- Platforms: PC
- Release: 2019
From the development team that brought out Spec Ops: The Line comes The Cycle, a competitive FPS. The video game is set in the future where the galaxy is owned by various factions but it’s a cutthroat business as each wish to expand. In order to expand, they’ll need someone to do all the dirty work and that’s where you come in. Players are contractors who are sent out into distant worlds to gather resources and hunt wildlife but there’s a growing number of other contractors who are after goods as well so you’ll either have to work together or carefully take out the competition. Likewise, you’ll need to prepare for your escape off the planet as each match has a narrow window of opportunity to have enough resources to make it off the planet before being trapped forever.
Borderlands 3
- Developer: Gearbox Software
- Publisher: 2K Games
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
- Release: September 13, 2019
Borderlands has been around since last generation platforms and after a little break, we got the newest installment coming down the pipeline, Borderlands 3. This is a classic series that was perfect for multiplayer game sessions. Players could join together and fight off a slew of enemies and seek out precious loot such as upgraded weapons, though as we know how this fad has turned into a money grab service. It looks as if this original feel and tone of the Borderlands franchise are back and we have some high expectations.
This first-person shooter video game is set to take place after the events of Tales from the Borderlands where Troy and Tyreen Calypso have discovered Vaults outside of Pandora. Players take on the role of a Vault Hunter which was recruited by Lilith who is tasked in stopping the evil duo. While we’re waiting for more information to come out, we will apparently see plenty of past characters from the Borderlands franchise return for the third main installment which has us thinking of just who may show up.
Rage 2
- Developer: id Software, Avalanche Studios
- Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
- Release: 2019
Rage 2 was officially announced during Bethesda’s E3 2018 press conference. We know that the game will still be an FPS filled with over-the-top action. Likewise, the game will follow the last ranger known as Walker who must attempt to survive in the world that’s filled with mutants.
This is an open-world title that gamers will be able to freely explore at their own pace. Because the game is set thirty years after the events of Rage, players may see a few older but familiar faces from the first installment.
Metro Exodus
- Developer: 4A Games
- Publisher: Deep Silver
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
- Release: February 22, 2019
Metro: Exodus is a FPS with survival horror elements tossed within. The game is set a few years after the events of Metro: Last Light, where players take on the role of Artyom who decides to flee to the far east in search of a new life.
Much like the last installment, players will have a variety of enemies and creatures that will lurk about. Likewise, we may see a few new weapons and scavenging materials as you embark on your journey. Within the game, the story will take place over a course of a single year which means that players will see the change of seasons in environments as they progress.
