The Surge: How To Farm Material | Equipment Guide

May 20, 2017 by Dennis Patrick

Here’s how to farm for precious materials.

Here’s how to farm for specific materials in The Surge. This will be a helpful guide for beginner players just starting out with the game or a quick refresher if you’re coming back to play The Surge after taking a break from the game. Either way, take a look at how you can find material to upgrade or craft the desired gear piece.

Obtaining materials is really exactly the same as to how players are meant to find schematics. If you have yet to learn how to find schematics, take a look at our guide posted above.

For the most part, players are having to find specific enemies who are sporting the gear they are hoping to either upgrade or craft.

Materials Found In The Surge
  • Cortical Processor (Head)
  • Force Regulators (Arms)
  • Rig Armature (Body)
  • Pneumatic Helix (Legs)

Note: The Mark will determine how strong your equipment is. It will start at Mk I and increase to Mk IV.

Just like schematics within The Surge, gathering material is found by slicing off limbs from your enemies. Determine what material you’re searching for and then find the enemies that have the equipment with the specific materials equipped.

Once you discover the enemy that is sporting the material needed, begin to attack the enemy with a focus on damaging the particular limb with the desired material.

For instance, if you’re in need of Force Regulators, you must focus on weakening an arm.

This is where it becomes a bit tricky as you must weaken the limb and not kill the enemy. While you weaken the limb, you’ll also focus on building up your meter to perform a finisher. Once you’re able to perform a finisher, aim for the limb and slice it off.

By slicing off the limb, players will likely receive the damaged equipment, though if not, you’ll have to find another enemy and repeat the process.

Take the damaged equipment to a Gear Station and it will then break down into the raw materials that you need to make upgrades or new crafts.
