This morning, had some big news unveiled for everyone to witness and enjoy. After a LONG time of waiting, a new Nintendo Direct was announced for Friday. This is big news, as the last true Nintendo Direct was in April, and that one announced the Switch 2 in full and spent a LOT of time breaking down the hardware elements for the game and only showing a few exclusive titles. The Friday Direct is likely to fix that by doing an hour-long show dedicated to Switch and Switch 2 titles. So…could GTA 6 be a part of that Direct?
At first, that might seem like a rather odd question, given who Nintendo is. However, it’s important to note a few things before casting this off as “speculation at best.” First, there ARE entries from Rockstar’s crime entry on Nintendo platforms, including on the Switch. In fact, Rockstar Games even made an entry specifically for Nintendo handhelds years back, and it was actually pretty good.
The other thing to think about here is that, graphically and processing-wise, the Nintendo Switch 2 is leagues ahead of what the OG Switch was. That means that Rockstar Games could potentially feel it has “enough stuff” to get the game to run properly on the console. There have been certain developers who have already pushed the Switch 2 far in the graphical sense, and it looks really good when they do so. Thus, you can’t rule it out.
Another thing to consider here is that GTA 6 is the biggest game coming out in 2026, bar none. As in, literally, nothing, not even something Nintendo can offer, will be able to top it. That’s just facts. To that end, many are speculating that this could be the biggest gaming launch in history and break all sorts of records.
One of the best ways to go about helping that is having the game launch on as many systems as possible. So, it would be a big deal if it were to get a launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 and launch on the same day as all the other platforms.
Finally, and this is most important, Take-Two, which is publishing the game, has already said that they’re fans of the Nintendo Switch 2, and that they want to bring more games to the system over time. What would be better proof of that than having their biggest game yet on the new console?
We’ll find out on Friday if it happens!
