Star Wars Outlaws released and stumbled out of the gate. Developers at Massive Entertainment had been working on a new thrilling experience. It just needed more time in the oven. Now that several updates have been released, players should have a better overall experience. But the real test will be when the game launches again in the marketplace this September.
If you didn’t already know, the latest Nintendo Direct presentation made sure to remind you that Star Wars Outlaws is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. This presentation today from Nintendo was focusing on third-party developers. So, I know more than a few fans were a bit bummed we didn’t get a standard Nintendo Direct full of big upcoming games and exciting updates from first-party studios.
However, it’s nice to know that there are plenty of third-party games coming for the system. As mentioned, one of the games that was showcased during the event was Star Wars Outlaws. That’s something we already knew was coming, but a developer featurette was released to help hype up the game’s launch.
Star Wars Outlaws Developer Featurette
The developers noted that there are a few reasons to get excited about this game. For instance, they worked the game around the console platform. So there should be a few unique capabilities you’ll spot in this trailer compared to other versions. Likewise, the game should be free from some of the technical issues that players might have experienced when the game initially dropped.
We’ll have to see if that proves to be the case. Of course, it was recently that the CEO of Ubisoft was quick not to take full blame for Star Wars Outlaws underperforming. If you missed their comments, essentially, they noted that the franchise at the time was a bit rocky. As a result, in their eyes, the game also suffered from fans losing some of the charm of the IP.
In other news, it was also recently uncovered that there was a Star Wars Outlaws 2 in preproduction. However, that was eventually scrapped. Unless this release does far better than Ubisoft would like, we doubt we’ll see that sequel suddenly come back into production. As for when you can expect the game to finally land on the Nintendo Switch 2, you can expect its release on September 4, 2025.
