Nintendo has announced a Nintendo Direct event making it just before the end of July.
The Big Announcement
Nintendo of America made this tweet today:

Join us for a #NintendoDirect Partner Showcase tomorrow, July 31, at 6am PT! Tune in for roughly 25 minutes of information on upcoming #NintendoSwitch2 and #NintendoSwitch games from our publishing partners.
This means Nate The Hate’s rumor from the start of this month was just proven correct.
What Does This All Mean?
Nintendo already revealed a lot of third party games in the big April Switch 2 Nintendo Direct, like Street Fighter 6, Cyberpunk 2077, and The Duskbloods. But even more third party games were revealed after the Direct. Sega announced that Virtua Fighter would be debuting on a Nintendo console for the first time ever. Tecmo Koei just published Wild Hearts S on the console as well.
What Could Nintendo Be Announcing Tomorrow?
Warframe developer Digital Extremes claims there’s a backlog of Switch 2 dev kits. Because of this, we may not be getting a lot of games announced on the Switch 2 like we expected. In particular, smaller game developers are still waiting for dev kits. Some of them are allegedly complaining that Nintendo isn’t even getting back to them after they made requests for dev kits.
That doesn’t sound like great news, but there may be an upside. We may be getting more AAA games announced for the console. Nearly all of the third party games that have been published so far are from AAA game companies. And we can’t ignore that there are more Japanese game companies than Western game companies that have published Switch 2 games so far.
There Are Still Rumors Of Unannounced Switch 2 Games
Even though we reported rumors that FromSoftware would bring Elden Ring to the Switch 2, we were also incredulous. But then, it actually happened. There are even more rumors of Switch 2 games that haven’t been announced, and those could be what’s coming next.
We reported on a big rumor that Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage would all also be coming to the Switch 2. These games will add up with the Assassin’s Creed games that were already published on the Switch so that nearly the entire franchise will be published on Nintendo platforms.
Capcom, who already released Street Fighter 6 on the Switch 2, said they were still studying the hardware to port Monster Hunter Wilds on it. A lot of AAA developers are probably also looking at the Switch 2 and thinking the same thing.
Aside from this, there’s also a lot of announced Switch 2 games that haven’t released yet and could also take the spotlight. These include EA’s and 2K’s sports games, and Gearbox’s Borderlands 4.
And then, the potential crème de la resistance is Call of Duty. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be unveiled on Gamescom’s opening night. But Activision can drop a small teaser confirming the Switch 2 version tomorrow. Microsoft literally promised Call of Duty on Nintendo. Tomorrow would be as good a time as any to fulfill that promise.
