Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Is Getting a Second Season

July 7, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Check out the announcement teaser right here!

We’re seeing a significant boom in video games being adapted for television and movies. We’re even getting some solid pieces of work through anime series. One of those series that proved to be popular was Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Based on the CD Projekt Red take on Cyberpunk 2077, viewers were able to sit in and watch a crew of criminals take on jobs in Night City.

We’re going to be discussing some spoilers from the first season, which is currently available on Netflix. So, if you haven’t finished the series or want to pick it up, you may want to skip this article. With that said, we have official confirmation that a second season is coming to Netflix, although we’re not yet sure when we can expect it.

Thanks to VGC, we’re learning that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 2 was unveiled during the Anime Expo event that took place this past Friday. A small teaser was shown, confirming that a new season is coming that will pick up where the storyline left off. As a result, the teaser does offer some flashback moments from that first season.

We know that David, the main protagonist from the first season, is no longer with us. Most of the original crew experienced a swift and brutal demise. That said, we know that the next season will follow a new crew, focusing on redemption and revenge. We also know that Kai Ikarashi, the artist behind the first season, will take the reins as the director for the upcoming season.

So far, we know the season is in production, and there’s no clear indication as to when the production team will be done. We’re waiting for more marketing materials to be released, but a small glimpse of a few characters is available in the announcement teaser, which you can view below. It’s not enough to really tell us anything, however.

At the very least, it looks like we will be heading back into Night City soon with this upcoming season. Meanwhile, for fans of the video game, we know a new update is coming for Cyberpunk 2077. Furthermore, a sequel installment is also in development, but we’ll see The Witcher 4 release first into the marketplace.
