Avalanche Software hit it out of the park when they released Hogwarts Legacy. The game offered players an action RPG experience within the iconic Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Fortunately, the game managed to release on last-generation and current-generation platforms. That included the Nintendo Switch, though it was a notable downgrade compared to other platforms.
The players on the Nintendo Switch might have access to the game, but if you plan to get the Nintendo Switch 2, this game has a significant upgrade. Developers have been highlighting its release, which will mark one of the games to be available at the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. That said, if you were still uncertain whether the upgrade would be worth it, Avalanche Software just dropped a new trailer highlighting the game compared to the two platforms.
This latest video showcases the graphical bump in quality you’ll have on the Nintendo Switch 2 and some of the performance enhancements. For instance, you can view a moment where players on the original Nintendo Switch are greeted with a loading screen to enter a section of the map, while those on the Switch 2 completely bypass the need to load the section and can enter seamlessly.
This version of the game was built for the Nintendo Switch 2 with next-generation assets, and this trailer shows that. Of course, if you already own a copy of the game on the Nintendo Switch, you can upgrade to the latest generation for just $10. That’s not bad, especially since we know that this game was built for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Meanwhile, we’re out of luck for those interested in new content for Hogwarts Legacy. Rumors earlier this year suggested that there was an expansion in the works. However, reports have since come out that this expansion was cancelled. Now we can at least hope that the developers are focusing on the next major installment instead.
