Bloober Team has revealed they are making a new game with Konami.

In a press release on their site, Bloober Team confirmed that they signed a new deal for this next project. While they aren’t sharing details on what the game is, it will be based on one of Konami’s IPs. Subsequently, Konami will once again be the publisher and rights holder for this game.
Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno shared this statement:
“Our collaboration with KONAMI has been incredibly fruitful, and the success of SILENT HILL 2 speaks for itself. By sharing knowledge and experience, we have been able to create high-quality production together. Of course, we can’t reveal too many details at this time, but we are confident that fans will be just as excited about our collaboration as we are. We can’t wait to share something truly special with players when the time is right.”
Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake launched on Windows and PlayStation 5 last October 8, 2024. The game reached Metacritic scores of 87 on Windows and 86 on PlayStation 5, and it has sold 2 million units. It could sell considerably more when it ends console exclusivity with PlayStation a year after its initial release. Not only can it then be brought onto Xbox, and possibly Game Pass, but it could possibly even become part of the Switch 2’s library.
This was particular vindication for Bloober Team, who had made a name for themselves with the Layers of Fear franchise, but was also receiving growing criticism for the perceived quality of their games. As best as we can tell, Bloober Team have received their highest MetaCritic scores and overall review scores with their Silent Hill 2 remake, making it a defining moment for the studio.
As we reported last December, Bloober Team confirmed that they were already working on at least two other games. We already knew about Cronos: The New Dawn. Babieno also revealed that they were working on an unannounced game, but this may not be the Konami game they announced today. Bloober also signed a partnership with Skybound Entertainment, Robert Kirkman’s production company behind The Walking Dead and Invincible.
That Skybound project is just as likely to be a completely original title, as it could be a licensed game based on one of Kirkman’s existing creations. After all, Skybound did also publish Slime Rancher. But with all that said, the future is looking very bright for Bloober Team, and we hope to learn more about all their games in the near future.
