Resident Evil Might Have Multiple Games Coming To Modern Platforms

January 21, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Does Capcom have more ports cooking up?

Resident Evil fans are waiting for Capcom’s next release. After the remake of Resident Evil 4, there has been speculation on whether Capcom would continue with another remake or deliver the next mainline installment. However, a new report suggests that ports or remasters could be next. A new ESRB discovery suggested Resident Evil 6 is next, but now we’re learning that even more might be coming.

If you were fond of the franchise’s earlier installments, you might have been wondering if a remake is coming. While it seems like Capcom is not interested in stopping these remakes anytime soon, more ports could be coming in the meantime. As mentioned, we reported on the ESRB rating found for Resident Evil 6 for the Xbox Series X/S platform just yesterday. That left some fans wondering if we are getting a remaster announcement for the platform.

However, a new set of classic Resident Evil games were uncovered to have Xbox Series X/S ESRB ratings. Thanks to Gamerant, we’re learning that four games might be making their way natively to the latest generation of console platforms. Those games include Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil Origins Collection, which includes Resident Evil HD Remaster and Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster, along with the original Resident Evil 4 HD.

That would give players access to these games natively on the platform, but it’s noted that we’re still waiting to see these ESRB ratings for the PlayStation 5. So now, much like how Gamerant reported, this could be a timed exclusive deal right now. If this collection is unveiled to be heading to Xbox Series X/S platforms, we might be waiting a while before they finally head to the PlayStation 5.

Right now, the Xbox Developer Direct presentation is heading our way this week. Four games are currently set to be showcased, and one of those games is still a mystery. We’ll have to wait and see if Microsoft makes surprise announcements, such as port releases for these classic survival horror games. After all, there were rumors that Microsoft might have multiple surprise reveals during this presentation.
