Is The Pokemon Company Teasing An Upoming Pokemon Legends Z-A Announcement?

January 6, 2025 by Todd Black

Please let this be real!!!

Irony and timing are things that many of us within the gaming space have to deal with often. The catch, as it were, is that sometimes things truly get unexpected when you’re not anticipating them happening. Last year, during the Pokemon Day presentation, The Pokemon Company dropped a shocking teaser trailer for Pokemon Legends Z-A, the follow-up to its hit spinoff title on the Switch from 2022. The teaser itself revealed that fans would be going to Kalos, that Lumiose City would be going through a kind of “redevelopment” project, and that the legendary Pokemon Zygarde would be the key legendary Pokemon that trainers would go after.

However, we’ve heard nothing about the title ever since that point. As in, literally nothing from The Pokemon Company. No art. No teases about the gameplay. Nothing! In fact, the only “true news” we got about the game was when there was that massive leak from within the company in 2024, and it dropped all manner of details about what the game would be like, how Lumiose City was the focus of the entire game and how that would work, etc.

Thankfully, things might be changing for the better, as insider Stealth noticed that the official Japanese account for the franchise has changed its background banner to the logo of Pokemon Legends Z-A:

Pokémon Company Japan changed their banner to Pokémon Legends Z-A.

It should be the focus of the Pokémon Day "Pokémon Presents"

That’s shocking and revealing all at the same time. First, it highlights that this is the “focus” for the brand this year, which would make sense for multiple reasons. Second, the image re-highlighted the “2025” release date that was announced last year. Finally, it restarts the rumors about not only when we’ll hear about the game again, but about what console it would release on.

This is important because the Nintendo Switch is in its literal final months before the transition to the Switch 2 platform. Nintendo has done its best to keep the console relevant in the final “year of life” before switching, pun intended, to its successor, but time is running out, and we’re likely to hear about the new console sooner rather than later.

Due to the “hiatus of information” about the upcoming Poke-title, many are wondering if The Pokemon Company might just shift from releasing it on the Switch to releasing it on the Switch 2. Or maybe do a dual-launch at once to cover both bases and get even more sales.

Either way, it’s clear that the game is on the company’s mind, and that could mean something big will happen soon.
