When fans are excited that a video game adaptation is getting a sequel film or a new season, you know that means the last one was pretty darn good. It’s been very hit-and-miss in the video game adaptation world, even with key hits in theaters, on Netflix and HBO, and so on. Every once in a while, a terrible adaptation or two comes around and seemingly sets everything back a few years. Thankfully, when the good ones hit and hit hard, you can’t wait to see what the showrunners will produce next. That brings us to Fallout Season 2, which has finally gotten some big news!
The first season on Amazon Prime Video wasn’t just good; it was another “revelation” of sorts, showing how incredible video game adaptations can be. A key twist was that unlike, say, a certain HBO video game show, this one was a completely original take on a beloved video game franchise. It was set within the game’s universe, but it was in a different location with all-new characters that touched upon key elements of universal lore while crafting special in the process. Between the gripping story, high budget for effects, and the incredible performances from actors like Walter Goggins and Ella Purnell, fans and critics couldn’t get enough of the first season, and it’s been confirmed that Season 2 has finally started filming:
What can we expect from Fallout Season 2? Quite a few things, especially given the final scenes of the season finale. We know the truth about Vault-Tec, the vaults, Lucy’s father, and where both she and the Ghoul are heading next: New Vegas! However, everything else is still a bit of a mystery, which makes it all the more intriguing to ponder about.
For example, why did Hank go to New Vegas? What’s waiting for him there? Then, with The Ghoul, there are still many elements of Cooper’s backstory that haven’t been fully fleshed out, including the location of his ex-wife and daughter. Let’s not forget about Maximus, though. At the end of Season 1, he unintentionally became a hero to the Brotherhood of Steel, granting a city with unlimited energy. Where do they go from there?
Plus, what other elements from the games might appear this time around? Some classic monsters were teased in the season finale credits, and if we’re going to New Vegas and beyond, there have to be new threats, right?
We’ll have to wait a bit for the second season to debut, but it’s one to definitely get high hopes about.
