Following the overwhelming success of Hogwarts Legacy in 2023, Avalanche Software may already be working on a sequel.
A new job listing from the studio, first spotted by Game Rant, describes an opening for a Producer on a currently undisclosed project, but adds that the ideal candidate should have experience working on open-world RPGs or “action/magical combat games.”
Another job ad from the company states that Avalanche is hiring for “a new open world, action RPG” with a “live ops” phase after release, implying that the Hogwarts Legacy sequel could be a live-service game in some respect.
Despite the massive success of Hogwarts Legacy, Warner Bros. announced in March that it would be focusing largely on live service games going forward, prompting outrage from fans of the company’s popular AAA titles. After re-evaluating, perhaps the company sees the value in releasing a sequel for a title that generated over $850 million in global sales revenue.
“Our focus is on transforming our biggest franchises from largely console and PC based with three-four year release schedules to include more always on gameplay through live services, multiplatform and free-to-play extensions with the goal to have more players spending more time on more platforms,” said Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav in an interview last fall.
In May, the game released a free summer update adding a new photo mode, cosmetics and new mounts. PlayStation-exclusive content, like the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest, was also ported to other platforms.
Hogwarts Legacy is available to play on PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
