Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 fans have been waiting a while to get their hands on New Game Plus mode. The game mode was delayed last year, leaving many players wondering when it would be ready for the public. In fact, some players were so frustrated over the delay of this game mode feature that they made threats against the development team. Fortunately, the wait on just what the date developers have picked is over, and we can confirm Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to receive New Game Plus on March 7, 2024.
The announcement came just after we reported on the developers confirming this game mode was still in the works. Today, taking to the official X Insomniac Games social media platform, the developers alerted followers that March 7, 2024, would be the date for the next update. It’s said that this new update will include New Game Plus, new suits, and other requested features. But details on what exactly will be added to the game through this update will come closer to the official release date. So we’re left with still some potential feature reveals to be unveiled to the public.
Again, we can look back at the delay from last year. Some of the requested features players have been asking for is the ability to change the time of day and replay missions. But just what exactly will come with this update is a mystery. At the very least, we are going to get the ability to replay the game through New Game Plus. If you’re unfamiliar with it, New Game Plus is a pretty common game mode, as it allows players to restart their campaign. But what makes this campaign run differently is the fact that you’ll be able to retain most of your progression. So, for instance, the various upgrades and ability unlocks will remain during your second run.
We’re not surprised by the delays that hit this game update. Insomniac Games was dealing with the recent ransomware attack that leaked gameplay footage for the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine, project ideas, and even files for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that allowed the ability to create an unofficial PC port release. As a result, the developers and Sony were dealing with this fiasco, which pushed some of the projects back at Insomniac Games. But at the end of this month, we should at least get a better idea of what will arrive on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in early March.
