Last month, Microsoft held a special Xbox Developer Direct stream. It’s a showcase that focuses on just a few games, and during that time, the developers are guiding viewers through the highlight. One of the games showcased this past month was Avowed by the development team Obsidian Entertainment. During their showcase, we got a small look into a quest and some combat while developers like the director behind the game, Carrie Patel, helped flesh the gameplay experience out.
However, fans have pointed out that they were not overly thrilled about some areas. For instance, one area was combat, which the developers have already picked up on. Thanks to Gamesradar, we discovered that Carrie Patel was featured on the Dropped Frames podcast. During their conversation, the topic was how fans were pointing out areas of the game that the developers had already addressed. Carrie noted that the footage showcased during the Xbox Developer Direct was a few weeks behind where the developers were at during the production.
So, for players, pointing out areas that the developers were already addressing was heartening. It’s the fact that the developers could see that fans noted areas that were already addressed and being worked on that is reassuring. The team is making the right steps going forward during development. Of course, there are still areas that will remain the same despite if fans point out any frustrations. For instance, one area that you’ll find locked in is that you’ll either play as a human or an elf. This helps eliminate some of the need to scale the game purely from the height differences between potential species players could pick through.
With that said, there is some actual lore that helps keep the decision to make players either a human or elf locked in. Regardless, players will also have some replay value here to get them playing through the campaign more than once. We know there will be multiple endings, but we don’t have any indication yet on how many endings there will be within the game. With all that said, we know Avowed is slated to land in the marketplace sometime this year. When Avowed lands in the marketplace, this action RPG title will be available on the PC and Xbox Series X/S platforms. In the meantime, you can check out some gameplay footage for the upcoming title in the video we have embedded below.
