New Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Info Highlights Yuffie and Cait Sith

January 23, 2024 by Todd Black

More characters, more possibilities!

Many people are looking forward to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and that’s not a shock at all. When Square Enix released the first entry of the “remake saga” back in 2020, gamers were stunned by how well the publisher had remade the original title despite focusing only on the Midgar storyline for the “first part.” The graphics were stunning, the voice acting was on point, and the updated combat system made it feel like an RPG while also being “upgraded” to fit modern times. However, a few flaws held it back, mainly in the party system.

Specifically, because the game was solely within the Midgar storyline, you only had a few options of who you could have within your fighting team. Specifically, you could only have Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and Aerith, and due to the story, you didn’t have the freedom to really “mix and match” that roster very often. However, in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, that limitation will be gone in a flash, and Square Enix has posted some new information about two of the characters you’ll get to have in your party should you desire them.

First off is Yuffie! Fans of the OG title will recall that she was an optional character in the PS1 game, but she’ll be instrumental in the remake saga. We saw her introduced in “Intergrade story,” and now she’ll be a fully-fledged member of Avalanche as she tries to take down Shinra to avenge the loss of her friend and fellow Wutai member during said Intergrade story.

As noted in the tweet below, Yuffie can go with the flow and chain attacks together to do incredible damage. Plus, she can shift the elemental powers of her weapons, which can do massive damage to her enemies, so you’ll definitely want to use her as a kind of “secret weapon” to deal critical blows and keep enemies on their toes! Plus, did we mention she can clone herself?

Yuffie excels at chaining her attacks together and switching their elemental affinity.

Then, there’s the mysterious Cait Sith! He was only teased in the first remake title, but he’ll be in the sequel in full force. His abilities will let him be someone who can attack or support characters depending on what you want. And if you’re in a pinch? You can bring out his Moogle and completely change the battle style!

When you add that to other new characters like Red XIII, you get many possibilities that you’ll want to try out when the game arrives on February 29th.
