There is a lot of hype and anticipation over the next major installment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Fans have continued to speculate for several years about when we might get the next game announcement. Fortunately, 2023 didn’t wrap without confirmation of a new game being worked on for a release sometime next year. That’s right, we won’t receive Grand Theft Auto VI before 2024 comes to a close. However, with only one trailer so far, fans have started speculating what FPS Rockstar Games is trying to target.
While we are still waiting for more details to emerge, fans are convinced that we will be stuck at 30 FPS. Thanks to Tech4Gamers, we’re finding out that more fans are discussing online that there’s a likelihood of Grand Theft Auto VI not having a 60 FPS option. We see plenty of games released now that focus on different mode options. One would typically focus on visuals, while the other would aim to deliver better performance.
But it does seem like a safe bet that we’re just going to see Grand Theft Auto VI launch as a 30 FPS title on consoles. Since this game is also only announced right now for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms, we might not see any attempt to bring out a 60 FPS option until a PC release. Again, this is all speculation right now, as nothing has been confirmed quite yet regarding targeted FPS performance.
Regardless, this is one game that will have no trouble selling when it hits the marketplace. We’ve only had one trailer, but we’ll continue to see reports surface online from hidden Easter eggs pop up online. Likewise, fans will continue to speculate on just what exactly the future may hold for this title. For instance, Digital Foundry noted that they are not expecting to see a release for the game on the next Nintendo console. So those hopeful to take their Grand Theft Auto VI experience on the go might be left out of luck until a PC release. Even then, we might have to see just what portable Windows handhelds are capable of running this game.
Again, we will have to wait until 2025 to enjoy this latest game installment. When next year rolls around, we should see the game available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. In the meantime, you can check out the first trailer for the game, which we have embedded below.
