Silent Hill fans have waited for what felt like an eternity to get a new gameplay experience. The franchise has been on ice for years. When it looked like we were going to get a revival of sorts thanks to Hideo Kojima, that was swiftly canceled when Kojima parted ways with Konami. Again, fans of the franchise were left in the dark for years. That was until last year when Konami unveiled that Silent Hill was making a return in a massive way. Several game projects were in the works, including a remake of Silent Hill 2.
We only had one trailer to unveil Silent Hill 2. The remake trailer didn’t have any gameplay footage but instead a series of cinematics. As a result, we’re still waiting to see just how well this remake will look and potentially feel through a gameplay trailer. This is also being developed by Bloober Team, their biggest project to date. If you’re unfamiliar with the studio by name alone, Bloober Team is responsible for games like Blair Witch, Layers of Fear, and The Medium. Today, we’re finding out that the release date for Silent Hill 2 might have been leaked online.
An official release date has yet to be unveiled. However, there have been some rumblings online recently, thanks to PCGameBenchmark. Uncovered by X user RetorToHero posted that the website had listed Silent Hill 2 as being set to release on March 21, 2024. Of course, the website has since been adjusted not to display a release date. However, it has some fans speculating that we’re getting ready for an official release date announcement.
So far, there haven’t been any announcements regarding an announcement date reveal for Silent Hill 2. If this game does make its way out early into the upcoming year, then we might get some kind of reveal soon. Likely, this might be revealed during this year’s The Game Awards. That is set to take place next month, and it’s been an event that shares new video game reveals and updates throughout the ceremony. With that said, we’ll have to wait and see if that’s the case or not. In other news regarding Silent Hill, the Silent Hill: Ascension interactive series kicked off last month. It’s been a daily venture for players to go through. But so far, it’s not been as big of a hit with fans as developers had hoped. Likewise, its possible that there’s even more remakes in the works for the franchise.
