When it comes to classic cartoons, few eras get better than the 90s. That might sound strange, given some of the all-time classics that have been going on in the last decade, and that doesn’t even include anime, as that’s an entirely different beast. But the 90s were a period of great fun and experimentation, where people took risks to make incredible shows and didn’t hesitate to make them dramatic and fun. That’s why so many of those tales got video game adaptations. Fast forward to now, and one of those adaptations has been reborn. We speak of Gargoyles Remastered!
The series was about a world where “superstition and the sword ruled” and beings known as Gargoyles lived alongside the humans. However, after a deep betrayal, one clan lost almost all of its members. They were frozen in stone for a millennium until finally, they lived again! Now, within a new world, the Gargoyles promised to protect their new home of Manhattan and defend it from the threats, both natural, supernatural, and even Gargoyle that try to take it down.
Gargoyles Remastered was a video game made during the hit series that let players be Goliath on a grand adventure throughout history as he tried to defeat the Eye of Odin. That item was a key item in the series’ second season.
Through the remaster, you’ll be able to toggle the game’s graphics to experience the original version of the game, or you can use the updated graphics of the modern era. Plus, the music has been remastered to sound crisper than ever.
Goliath is no slouch in battle, and you’ll use his various abilities both on the ground and in the air to take out all manner of foes. That includes the mechanical menaces of Zanatos, the beasts of the Wild Pack, and even Goliath’s former love in Demona. Can you restore balance to the timeline before all is lost? You’ll find out once you play the game!
What’s interesting about the timing of this is that there are reports of a live-action remake of the series being done. There have also been movements by fans to try and get the series back into the animated space so that the team can continue their work. Plus, Dynamite Comics has continued the canon story of the series via a very popular comic book.
So perhaps after all these years, the Gargoyles really do live again.
