Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 To Have “Random Hero Encounters”?

September 19, 2023 by Todd Black

Time to hero up?

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the biggest games left in 2023 that fans are dying to get their hands on. The title has been getting lots of information and trailers lately, and Insomniac Games isn’t afraid to “spill some tea” on what you might be able to see and do as you swing around the city. As gamers found out earlier this year, when you’re in the open-world setting of New York, you’ll have the option to swap between Peter Parker and Miles Morales. That’s important because not only is this game about both characters but there are tasks and missions specifically assigned to them.

However, that raises a question, now doesn’t it? That would be the question of what happens when you’re controlling Peter Parker or Miles Morales and thus don’t have eyes on what the other is doing. What does a Spider-Man do when a player isn’t “holding the reins”? The answer came from the title’s associate animation director, who revealed in an interview that you can sometimes see the other Spider-Man doing work as you swing through New York as one Spider-Man or the other!

The Associate Animation Director of MSM2:

" There are time when you can be swinging throughout the city
and you can see the other spider-man
Sometimes actively doing something
Or stopping a crime "

That's so cool tbh, Imagine you're swinging and just watching peter doing… pic.twitter.com/ugFCJ8oeIw

That’s right! You can see the other Spider-Man in action doing things on his own, and then you can jump in to help if you want or swing away so you can continue to do what you intended to do initially. This is very reminiscent of a certain Rockstar Games title where they had three main characters, and you could sometimes find them wandering the city when you weren’t in control of them. It’s a simple yet very realistic feature that many fans are likely hoping to see in action.

Speaking of action, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will have plenty of it, no matter who you’re controlling. The game will have both Spider-Men fighting wars on multiple fronts. First, Peter Parker and Miles Morales are dealing with certain struggles in their personal lives, which will come across in the main story. Second, Kraven the Hunter and his army have invaded New York City, and the two are some of the only people who can stop them. However, when Miles comes across Mr. Negative, Peter gets the Symbiote Suit, things will get tricky. Both will struggle with their “inner demons” while still trying to save the city.

The combat has been upgraded in numerous ways for the two Spider-Men, so when the title arrives on October 20th, see how many ways you can push the heroes to new heights!
