It may be hard to believe, but Attack On Titan first premiered ten years ago. It’s been quite a long journey since then, and fans have enjoyed most of it since the anime’s arrival. What made this particular show so special was that it was heralded as one of the series that started the “anime boom” that we still enjoy today. With its mature content, stylish visuals, epic action sequences, and great characters, fans couldn’t get enough. It became a worldwide phenomenon and helped the larger world realize that anime isn’t “just for kids.” It’s for everyone who wants to enjoy a good show.
The only problem was that the anime took its sweet time to get made at points, and when it came to the fourth season, they’ve been trying to do so much that they’ve stretched out the final season into multiple parts. Over the last few years, we’ve had to endure one part being out, and then not until the end of said part did we learn of the next one. But now, basically ten years after the premiere, the final episode, the true final episode, will be dropping this fall. We know this because a teaser and synopsis for that final episode were released, and it teases the end:
“The fate of the world hangs in the balance as Eren unleashes the ultimate power of the Titans,” The official description reads. “With a burning determination to eliminate all who threaten Eldia, he leads an unstoppable army of Colossal Titans towards Marley. Now a motley crew of his former comrades and enemies scramble to halt his deadly mission, the only question is, can they stop him?”
As you can see, things will get pretty intense, and it’s all hands on deck to stop Eren Yeager and his plans with the Titans.
To an extent, it will be a bittersweet finale, no matter what. Even the creator of Attack on Titan noted that he slightly regrets how he ended the series. Perhaps the anime will help soften that blow. Only time will tell.
While the release date is only “Fall 2023,” we can say that this isn’t too far away, so we might get a full trailer later on if we’re lucky.
No matter what, fans are going to be eager for this ending. They want to see what happens with Eren, Mikasa, and the others of the Survey Corps. Is there even a possibility of a happy ending in a world like this?
