A Big Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Update Coming Soon?

June 8, 2023 by Todd Black

But will it be a trailer or something else?

If you’ve been paying attention to Twitter, you’ll know that the team behind Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the next chapter in the “remake” saga for the classic RPG from Square Enix, has been giving little teases here and there to help enlighten people with what’s coming up with the big title. When it was originally announced, they said it would come out in “Winter 2023,” which might still be true. Or, it could be that the game will get delayed soon, just like its predecessor was for some time. But now, a new tease sheds light on what we’ll see next.

Tetsuya Nomura has noted via “comment” that we’ll learn more about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth “soon”:

As you can see, they put the “will be revealed soon” in big, bold text, implying that we won’t have to wait too long until we get more news. We’ll likely get a new trailer to highlight how far along the game is and possibly get a new release window/date so fans can start planning for it.

The game is still very much surrounded by mystery despite certain other teases that have come out this week. We know that the second game will take place outside of Midgar and will allow you to have more open-world experiences than before. We also know that this will open up the story more and allow you to clash with Sephiroth, given the point in the story we’re in and how he wasn’t used much in the original.

However, given how the remake changed things about the story, and possibly will change the story further in the future, everything is up in the air.

Case in point, another one of the “developer comments” was that there would be new characters that join your party and that you’ll be able to work with others in a way you hadn’t before.

They also noted previously that things were going “according to plan” regarding development, so fans might be lucky and not have to worry about delays.

So what would fans like to see from the next trailer for the game? The biggest thing will not only be the visuals but some clue as to how big the remake sequel will get in terms of scope. Since there’s likely one more game in this line coming, fans need to know what to expect. So fans will be happy if this “soonish” reveal is indeed soon. Let’s hope Square Enix isn’t pulling their tale.
