The news of layoffs continues today as we just reported about Final Strike Games laying off several of its staff. However, employees within Ubisoft woke up today without any notice that their jobs were taken. It seems that the staff in the US and UK might feel that their footing might not be as secure. Here is what we know so far about the recent layoffs within Ubisoft.
Thanks to a report from Gamespot, we’re finding out that Ubisoft has just laid off 60 staffers within their Ubisoft’s Customer Relations Center team. According to the report, it seems that this is Ubisoft’s way to focus on where they can have a significant impact while remaining steadfast in their commitment to support their players anywhere around the world. Unfortunately, while this might be Ubisoft’s statement and view going forward, it’s rough to hear that no notice was given to the employees.
For instance, Matthew Hayes took to Twitter and alerted their followers that Ubisoft didn’t give any notice. So the fact that he no longer has employment means a struggle to find a new lead. Of course, this year, in general, for Ubisoft has not been a positive one. We have seen several instances where the company was struggling to keep up. In fact, this is not the only Ubisoft story to come out today. Just earlier, we reported on a rumor that suggested Ubisoft is pushing back their release for Assassin’s Creed Mirage and the Assassin’s Creed VR game.
Furthermore, there were initially plans to have a big showcase at E3 2023. They were one of the few companies to confirm their presence at E3 2023 but quickly confirmed that they were no longer attending. Some players speculated that this could have been due to the development studios not having enough content ready to showcase. Although even though they won’t be at E3, which was an event that was ultimately canceled this year, Ubisoft is holding its own stream showcase. Ubisoft Forwards are back, and we know that we can view the next Ubisoft Forward on June 12, 2023.
That might help clear up the rumor suggesting the Assassin’s Creed games were pushed back. Meanwhile, we might get some more insight into their other anticipated projects, including Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. But for now, we’ll just have to wait for their Ubisoft Forward to kick off next month.
