Sea of Thieves has announced their latest adventure The Rogue’s Legacy will release on December 8. This latest adventure will be the first after the launch of Season 8 and the ramping up of the conflict between Athena’s Fortune and The Reaper’s Bones which culminated in the Return of the Damned adventure last month.
This new adventure features Tasha, the tavern keeper of The Unicorn on Ancient Spire Outpost. Fans of the game might remember that Tasha features heavily in The Legendary Storyteller one of the Tall Tale adventures leading to The Shores of Gold. This whole adventure appears to be a call back to The Shores of Gold Tall Tales and reintroduces one of the most under-represented characters in Sea of Thieves lore: Captain Briggsy.
In fact, Captain Briggsy is likely the eponymous “Rogue” in the title of this adventure, she was one of the great pirate captains in the early days of the Sea of Thieves along with Rathbone, Greymarrow, and of course Ramsey Singh the Pirate Lord himself. Briggsy is an eccentric adventurer who broke apart The Shroudbreaker, an artifact that can pierce the veil around the Sea of Thieves and is a key character in the Tall Tales. She was eventually cursed to become a Skeleton Lord by the Shores of Gold and was promised a cure by the greedy Rathbone.
Despite succumbing to the curse and becoming a skeleton, Briggsy is arguably one of the game’s more good-aligned characters and fans are excited to see her possible return, especially after evil’s victory in Return of the Damned and while she doesn’t make an appearance herself, Briggsy’s biggest fan Tasha makes an appearance in the cinematic trailer for this adventure.

Our adventure starts off with Tasha looking through an old book written by Captain Briggsy and finding a treasure map within. She leaves her tavern and returns with a mysterious chest and a magical compass. The next morning, Tasha awakens to find the chest empty and her own hand dissolving into a boney appendage. Clearly something has gone awry and it will likely be up to adventurous pirates to get to the bottom of it.
The Rogue’s Legacy: A Sea of Thieves Adventure will kick off the new season of adventures, this time centered around Captain Briggsy instead of the conflict between The Pirate Lord and Captain Flameheart.
