It’s finally launch day for Marvel’s Midnight Suns and the strategic action game is already making some positive impressions across the board. The new card-based tactics take on an RPG goes live to the general public today, after gathering lots of positive crititcal acclaim.
To celebrate the release of Marvel’s Midnight Suns, developers Firaxis Games and publisher 2K Games have shared a new launch trailer. The game is described as an exploration of the darker side of the Marvel universe and will see players taking on the dark forces of Lilith, Mother of Demons. The game will allow players to step into the shoes of their favourite Marvel heroes in an engaging story campaign. Marvel is clearly delighted with the outcome of Marvel’s Midnight Suns, even before player feedback has come in. Bill Rosemann, VP & Creative Director at Marvel Games explained more about the team’s hopes for the title in a press release. “From the explosive action of the battlefield to the unfolding mysteries of the Abbey, we are so excited for players to explore the darker side of the Marvel Universe,” he remarked. “Firaxis dug deep into the Marvel Vault, chose to spotlight characters that they truly love, and poured their hearts into expertly delivering their vision of the rising stars that are the Midnight Suns.”
Early reviews of the game have so far been overwhelmingly positive, with some calling Marvel’s Midnight Suns a late contender for Game of the Year. In particular, VGC rated the game as a 5 out of 5, calling it a “modern strategy classic.” PC Gamer has decribed the title as “completely brilliant,” giving it a score of 88 out of 100,. Finally, Rock Paper Shotgun have called the game “one of the best super hero games full stop.” High praise indeed.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns will feature a wide range of playable heroes in its roster, allowing the player to employ their unique skills and abilities in tactical, turn-based battle situations. It was also recently confirmed that the campaign’s final attainable character will be The Hulk, who adds to the list of icons such as Captain Marvel, Captain America, Blade, Wolverine and many more.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is available now on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
