The world is heavily focused on the latest Call of Duty action at the moment, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 taking the gaming world by storm. However, the community is always looking for the next big thing, which is why a couple of weeks back rumours started circulating about what to expect from the upcoming Warzone 2.0 game. Call of Duty‘s free-to-play battle royale mode launches in a matter of weeks on November 16. However, as reported back in October, fans and insiders alike are already speculating about future maps that’ll be heading into the game.
While we know that the first map in Warzone 2.0 will be the brand new Al Mazrah map, alongside the game’s new DMZ extraction mode, which will be known as the Deployment Zone. However, it’s been suggested that the second map that Warzone 2.0 will introduce will be an area taken from the main campaign in Modern Warfare 2. This is reportedly the area of Las Almas, which is home to the Las Almas drug cartel and features a raft of geographical locations within its zone.
It now looks as if there have been some new clues gathered from within the main Modern Warfare 2 campaign, which is adding fuel to the fire of the Las Almas map theory. As reported in Insider Gaming, a specific Easter Egg within the campaign in Modern Warfare 2 potentially points to the creation of this heavily-rumoured second map for the battle royale game. Players who have made their way through the campaign to the “El Sin Nombre” mission will be able to discover a specific map of the Las Almas region during a part of the mission. Players can check the map out by looking at it on the table behind Diego, before taking him out. According to Tom Henderson at Insider Gaming, the map depicted in the Modern Warfare 2 campaign mission resembles the concept art he was reportedly shown last year when scoping out Warzone 2.0′s first map of Al Mazrah. So, according to him, there’s a strong possibility that this Easter Egg could be pointing to the real action that’s yet to come.
When that will be, of course, is anyone’s guess at this point. With Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 yet to launch, it’s clear it’ll be quite some time yet before a second map is introduced into the game anyway. It certainly seems as though Las Almas could play a significant role in Warzone 2.0, given its prominence in the main Modern Warfare 2 campaign. However, we’ll just have to wait and see.
