It’s been a while since we heard anything about the upcoming action RPG Atomic Heart. It was revealed in September that the game had been subject to some turbulent times due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. In particular, Atomic Heart‘s Russian-based development studio Mundfish struggling to find a publisher for the title, amongst other complications. However, after finally bagging a publishing deal with Focus Entertainment, it’s been a little smoother on the development pipeline since then.
Fast forward a couple of months and finally, the long-awaited release date for Atomic Heart is just around the corner. The game will be sharing its launch date for PC and consoles in a scheduled IGN First video. The big reveal will be broadcast on YouTube tomorrow, November 2 at 5 AM PT/ 8 AM ET/ 12 PM GMT/ 1 PM CEST. According to IGN, Atomic Heart will also be getting a fair bit of coverage throughout the month of November, so those looking forward to the quirky-looking FPS action will be able to learn more about what’s in store from the title. Atomic Heart shared a combat trailer as part of this year’s Gamescom a couple of months back. In case you missed it, here’s a look at the offbeat and intense action coming up in the game.
It’s been rumoured that the game is set for a release in mid-February next year, although reports like this have to be taken with a pinch of salt. Atomic Heart‘s last estimated release window was put at sometime between December of this year and February of next, so it’s quite possible that these reports may be correct. Of course, we won’t know for sure until tomorrow’s release date announcement, so it’s probably best to keep an eye on the upcoming IGN First premiere ahead of buying into online rumours.
Atomic Heart is an exciting-looking dystopian FPS which is set in an alternative historical version of the Soviet Union. With the machinery in open rebellion against the people, players will need to think fast and learn how to fight back against the robotic onslaught. From the clips shown so far, the game looks set to be fully stocked with action and intrigue, with players able to make use of a variety of weapons and even some kind of magical powers to immobilise and crush the attacking technological hordes. Basically, Atomic Heart looks like a whole lot of weird mechanical fun, mixed up with bloody, fast-past combat and an intriguing retro-futuristic setting. We’ll be keeping an eye on the release date for this one, for sure.
Atomic Heart will be available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC, with its release date to be announced tomorrow.
